I'm Sanita, and I design from a studio in Seattle.
Clay & Stone started with a wall I couldn't find anything for. Everything in the shops was either loud or lifeless — big-box canvases in colours nobody's room actually is, or beige so safe it disappeared. I wanted the in-between: pieces with a hand in them, in the warm neutral range that real light does something interesting to.
So I started making them. Every print here is my own original artwork. I build the compositions digitally, working from colour I sample out of actual materials — unglazed terracotta, raw plaster, wet stone, the grey-green of Pacific Northwest sage.
The names come from around here. Madrona, Ballard, Salish, Vashon, Cascade. Basalt, Kiln and Loam are named for what they look like.
The same palette runs across everything, on purpose. A cushion, a framed print and a tea towel from different collections will sit in the same room without arguing.
I don't hold stock. Each piece is produced after you order it, then shipped to you directly. It means a couple of extra days, and it means nothing is made that nobody wanted.
